Jamie has owned the Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar with his wife Nina since 2015. As a child he moved frequently due to his father’s job, his one constant was Cornwall. His grandfather had dragged a dilapidated caravan into a farmer’s orchard on the Lizard in the 1970s. As a child his summers were spent helping on the farm, fishing, foraging, sailing and generally making a nuisance of himself.
After a degree in Classics at Leeds university, travelling ensued, after paying his way through university by washing dishes and waiting tables, Jamie threw himself into the Aussie food scene. Informal, no nonsense seafood became his calling.
After the obligatory stint in London learning the craft, he escaped to Cornwall as soon as feasibly possible. Where his restaurant Mackerel Sky Seafood bar has recently added a sister site and a Cornish delicatessen to boot. Jamie is grateful that he gets to do something he loves in the most beautiful part of the U.K.
